Traveling upto Raxaul via train is a wastage. Go upto Gorakhpur by train and enter Nepal border via Sunauli. |

You can go up to New Delhi, and from there take either a train or Flight. There are daily flights to Kathmandu from Delhi.
In case you plan to travel by train, board any train that takes you upto Gorakhpur. From Gorakhpur Railway Station you can travel by Bus or Taxi to the Nepali border Sonouli. The nearest border town is Bhairahawa which falls under Lumbini zone. So I shall suggest that you visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha before proceeding towards Kathmandu or any other destinations in nepal.
The only modes of transport within Nepal is either Air or Bus. I did not get chance to visit much of Nepal, but two places that you must visit are Pokhara and Kathmandu. Apart from this you can also visit Chitwan famous for wild life. |

For travel you can follow the answers of above two persons. For visitable places, I just want add more, if you visit Nepal, Illam and Dhankuta are most of the scenary places of Nepal lies in estern part. Near to Darjiling Border of India. |

Reach Delhi, from there you can fly to Kathmandu, or take a train to Rexaul (Bihar), cross the bridge, you reach Birganj, you can take a bus from there.
There are many places,like Bhaktapur, Patan, Pokhara, Lukla... a lot of interesting places |
