He has been in politics from Nepali Congress for a long time.He also became minister twice.he became president cause his party declared him as a candidate for the president and he won the voting done by the constituent assembly members. After becoming the president now he has resigned from his party membership and also from the memember of constituent assembly.

Yes I am agreed to Charlie what he have said on this Q!
Anyway as I read on the newspaper that he is senior politician and has contribution to the country before.
50/50 to be eligible and qualification. President can be just like a ceremonial so he will just guide all the politicians to the right way.

How is this a travel question? It is a political question and should be posted in that section...will draw the attention it warrants there and get answers from people interested in politics.
