How much money for a month of travel in Nepal?

I will be traveling for a whole month around Nepal. I am curious as to how much money I should budget for my trip, not including airfare.

Hi,

Pretty tough. Everything depends on what kind of accomodation you are looking for. Generally speaking it is considered a very cheap place with around 20 USD getting you a decent accomodation. At times it is even cheaper. Foods are also quite cheap, generally 4/5 USD will buy you a nice heavy meal.
Transportation is around 1USD for 3 kilometers in Taxi,

I would expect this much per/day:

lodging = $25 (you could probably find cheaper though since you're staying so long)
food = $15
misc. travel, taxis, bus, etc. = $5/day (again, could be much cheaper if you walk or ride bike, which I would probably do; or if you travel long distances it may be more. Of course, some days you may not travel at all).
extra misc. = $5 (Do you plan to buy stuff to take home or do activities?)

So, you could probably expect somewhere between $35-55/day, depending on how much you plan to do.

30 days in a month x $40/day = $1200 (more or less)

First of all, as other people already said, nepal is cheap country, however it depends upon what kind of lodging and fooding do you adopt and what you want to do?

If you want to do trekking or something.. the price ranges according to the trek.. but if you don't want to do anything extra just stay in Kathmandu then you can bring about $ 1000-2000. I guess this is sufficient but if you want to enjoy other things then it might cost you a bit more. and if you need any more information regarding the cost. please let me know...what kind of services you want to go with and what other things you want to do.... and i'll try to tell you the amount of money you'll be needing...

regards,
Tenzing

On the safe side, 3,000 to 5,000 Dollars will be just nice. Things are relatively cheap in Nepal and you will have a lot of good bargains there.

It also depends on what you're planning to spend on, so I cannot really give much details and that is the estimation I am making based on experience and advices from friends.

Have fun!

Around total of about $5000 I think will be enough because things are quite cheap in Nepal. Best of luck for your trip to nepal! Enjoy the thrill!
