Smarth

I am off to Pokahara, Nepal around Dec 25; wondering if you can tell me what to see/do there? I love hiking.?

Also want to know if Pokhara has the equivalent of Thamel, Kathmandu? What's a good and inexpensive place to stay? Is it possible to network with some likeminded people who intend to visit Pokhara around the same time? Perhaps we could do some hikes together? Is there a paragliding outfit I could check out?

well, if you are comming to Nepal you should first consult with good travel agency. They will provide you every information you need and it would be very easy for you if do that. They will fix you every thing including you desired activities during you stay in Nepal. And Pokhara is very different from Thamel, in Pokhara you will find it with lots of greenary than in Thamel, Kathmandu , yeas it is more likely to have lots of shops with traditional jewlaries and encient arts and paintings just like in Thamel. The best part in staying in Pokhara is you can enjoy wonderful mountain views and lakes.if you want to do Paragliding they will provide you each and every things you require and the safty tips by professional.

If you are comming in December 25, you should visit following websites:
http://www.himalayaexcursion.com
http://www.a1excursion.com

simply get the information you want and if you want to confirm your visit or want to know more , just click on the Enquiry and you they will give you details.

I was in Pokhara last summer....I didn't get to do much sight seeing and I don't know specific area names, but there are definately a lot of places to go hiking. You could hike to the World Peace Pagoda....it only takes about an hour once you cross the lake and the view is beautiful...but if you are looking for a more intense hike, there is definately a lot of opportunity for that in Pokhara too. There is a lot of shops like Thamel, with a lot less traffic. Prices vary in comparison, usually a little more expensive than in Kathmandu. A lot of ladies from Tibet also come down to sell/trade with you for their jewelry. That can made for an interesting experience... wish I could remember the place of where I stayed...the hotels seem quite a bit nicer than in Thamel, not sure of the price comparison. Have an Amazing time in Pokhara...you'll love it I'm sure!
