I will have 2 full days in Kathmandu. Where can I go for some nice sight-seeing? |
I would like to know where are the nice mountains and the names of these mountains. Would love to take some pictures from high above of Nepal. Are there any cable car rides or sort? How about going to Mount Everest? I've friends telling me that it costs USD100 per person to get on a helicopter which will take you round Mount Everest. Is there a cheaper alternative? Is the transportation (taxis) safe and reliable? |

Rahul has point but going to Pokhara if you have only tow days, I won't suggest. Here are list of places in and around Kathmandu that you can visit.
1. Nagarkot, hardly 20 kilometers from Kathmandu, scenic beauty of this place will steal your heart. You can plan a night stay here. Best hotel available is Club Himalay. However, there are numerous other hotels to suit your budget.
2. You can visit Swayambhunath Stupa. It's a very good place and buddhist temple to visit.
3. Basantapur Durbar Square, Near New Road, this place has numerous temples, monuments and ancient palaces. You can also visit the Museum here at Hanuman Dhoka. Temple of living Goddess Kumari also lies here.
4. Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square boasts of many temples and palaces and museums here.
5. Thamel is a place especially for night lifes, discos, etc. It's a tourist hub.
6. Casinos, some six seven casinos are open 24 hrs a day for your entertainment if you are willing to have few drinks and gamble some money. Who knows your lady luck is following you to Nepal.
For rests, you can even call me in my personal number 9851105175 for any kind of help and further information. I love to help tourists and guests. |

Hi, personally I would recommend you to get off at Kathmandu and go to Pokhara (via domestic airfare). You will see some amazing close-up views of the mountains there. Some good ones you can see is Machchapuchre (Fish-tail). I dont really think there are helicopters that will take you around Mt. Everest but you could prob. get off at the base-camp to take pictures. Well I'm from Nepal (I live in Sydney AUS at the moment). Hope this helps. Rahul. |
