If you've been to Kathmandu in Nepal, what do you think of it, and can you recommend lodging?

Hotel Greenwich Village
PO Box 12446 Kupondole Heights
Kathmandu Nepal

i stayed there and thought it was great
best i'd seen.

the owner is a rotarian so you know you will be well taken care of by good people.

has hot water, laundry service, phones, computers, etc.

but also if your looking for an adventure
take the 6 hour bus ride to Chitwan National Forest
and stay in the hotel there.
the hotels is not good
but you can ride an elephant through the jungle, etc.
totally worth it

For me, Kathmandu is the best place to visit and lodge. I like the weather condition as it is neither hot nor cold. I can see mountains from the windows. Clean blue sky, friendly and always smiling people, rich culture and festivals always inspired me to stay here in Kathmandu. I hope you will also like it. The city as such and streets are small, crowded and not planned however the overall condition is extremely beautiful and lots to see.

For the first-time traveler, it's good to get situated in Thamel, backpacker/tourist neighborhood in Kathmandu. Regarding lodging, what's your price range and what are you looking for?

After completing a 4 week trek (sans shower) around the Everest region, I splurged on a room at the Yak & Yeti for something ridiculous, but it was much needed. It's also in walking distance of Thamel.
