Is late December a bad time to travel to Nepal?
I have two weeks off in December and I need a place to visit where places won't be shut down for Christmas and where I can hike.
Weather wise December is best time to travel Nepal. It does not rain and you can enjoy cloudless blue sky. Days are sunny and little cold. Nepalese people do not close their shops or hotels during this time or for Christmas. Instead, they have more programs and best offers during this time. It is better to be in city area during Christmas and New year day if you want to party.

It's a great time as I've experienced it first hand. The weather is perfect, seeing any clouds is a rarity and this allows magnificent views of the Himalayan Ranges. Everything will be open and people will be happy because the Nepalese festive season would've ended a month or so ago and they would be looking forward to the new year!

December month is not a bad time to have tour in Nepal. Only thing is weatherwise too cold. I personally says it is good time to be there.
