I want to do a trekking/climbing holiday in Nepal at the end of August to sept. I very stupidly left it late to organise. Can I just book a flight to Kathmandu and book a trek while out there? Will ...
What to pack with me? I am planning to travel this December, this is the only time of the year I can take some time off. Is there a place where to meet other single travelers, as I am planning to ...
It is not safe at the moment.
Nepal continues to experience sporadic incidents of terrorism and politically-motivated violence in major urban areas.
If you want to travel here alone, you should practice good personal security when moving about, especially at night, and avoid walking alone after dark and carrying large sums of cash or wearing expensive jewelry. In several reported incidents tourists have had their belongings stolen from their rooms while they were asleep. Solo trekkers have been robbed by small groups of young men, even on some popular trails.

Not any more or less dangerous then your own country. I have been planning my own trek around the Annapurna region. There are many free online resources for planning and finding other trekkers as well as lots of books to read from. Head down to Barnes and Nobel (if you have one in your town) and read from any of the available books.
To illustrate my own point, I spent a month in Bangalore India last year (on business) staying w/ a host family. While I did get some stares, I never really felt that threatened by anyone. The key is to not be a total **** about your presence and trying to "blend along"

no just be cool and keep an eye on your stuf. You should be fine. Check out the Monkey Temple and Dashen Kali. However Dashen Kali has animal sacrafices that rent cool but they are a good experience

I agree with the first reply to this topic. If you keep your eyes open and take necessary caution, then it should be perfectly safe.
I had met an Austrian woman last year who did the Everest Base camp trek alone and she said that she did not feel harassed or threatened in any way.

I never felt threatened there; the people are the most welcomiing I have ever met. Use sensible precautions and don't travel about at night, and you should be ok. I got excellent advice and service from www.travelsmanagement.com.
