Is now a good time to travel to Nepal?

Is is safe to travel to Kathmandu? I read there have been bombings almost every month in Nepal. Is it a very unsafe region? Also is it goingto be crazy raining as it is Monsoon season?

What "TooToo" has said that's false. Because nowadays there is no problem with Tourist in Nepal. Once upon a time there was critical crisis. Maiost were fighting to demolish Monarchy. Obviously there is still verbal fighting amoungs big political players ( Actually I hate them) But that doesn't affect tourist much. I mean Tourist are safer to walk there. In Addition, If you do not like monsoon then you better come to Nepal during November, December, Currently lots of downfalls going on. That is you will have to decide whether you will like or not.

who the hell said that it is very unsafe to stay in nepal? if so then how the people in nepal are staying here.ya there is report of bombing sometimes but not every month.
the bombing are also very small not hurting peoples. if u are planning to visit u can certainly visit. there are many foreigners seen here, who are increased, compared to tthe war time. u can relaxly travel and enjoy the natural beauties here.

Many of the above posts have made point about the security situation being normal. Within a couple of days, we are going to have a full fledged government led by the former Maoist rebels. That should make things better. And this will also help to provide a strong government at the center.

The monsoon is not that bad. It has been raining mostly in the evenings. It is partly cloudy in the afternoons. I have not have to use umbrella that often during this monsoon season.

You might find this helpful to track the general weather conditions across Nepal.

Yes, Nepal is very safe country to Travel these days I think. Nepal face long decades of moist insurgency & eventually they came join to Nepal government. Which is really very good sign for Nepal & Nepali people. I wish Nepal will certainly be one of the safest countries in the world. I Love Nepal very much. Even during the Moist insurgency in Nepal there was no any hurt for Tourist. I had been there many times even when there was during moist was fighting with government. But all the tourist areas were fully safe except some areas Moist collect some Donation form foreigners.
Nepal is really safe place to travel these days. Though August/September is Monsoon Season but you can still travel. You can get less crowded in this season & you get cheaper packages as it is still off Season. So I would like to suggest to plan you trip to Nepal accordingly. For more information about package you can contact at http://www.guidenepal.com

if you are coming from europe... climate will be just fine for you ... its always moderate... well it is raining these days .. but usuallly .. it only rains at night in Kathmandu .. day time its quite sunny actulllayy... yesterday it was 30

well roits and protestations is now a story of every country .. its not as bad as it sounds in the news.. i live and travel around kathmandu everyday... and i am alive... its not that dangerous.. its actually intersting..

but yes ... situations are uncertain .. i mean "bands" can happen anytime .. that means no vehicle .. but you can easily walk around or get a rikshaw

As is per usual with frequent bombings, this situation radiates safety.
I definitely believe that you should go to Nepal. It is the safest place on earth and probably much safer than wherever you are right now.

to be honest it will probably take a while for the hype to pipe down (rhyme :)) and if its in your head worrying, the chances are you wont enjoy your self as much

It is an unsafe region, there's people dying a lot of the time.

My advice would be to leave it until later, when you feel more confident and the situations are better.
