Nepal flag?

why does nepal flag shaped like two triangles, is it because of the mountains? and what does the icons mean (the crescent and the star)?

The 2 Triangle doesnt indicate the mountains (because there is lots of plain lands in Nepal. If the flag represents mountains, then it would mean that Nepal and Nepalese are associated with mountains.) As I am from plain, and do not like to be considered as a 'hilly people'.

Since Nepal is a Hindu State, the 2 triangles basically comes from the flag that is kept in Hindu temples since ancient times. It actually denotes Nepal as a Hindu country.

About the Icons, the crescent denotes that Nepal/Nepalese is as soothing as the moon. But if Nepalese are challenged, they can be burning like fire of the sun. The crescent basically is sun.

madhusudan
"The blue border denotes peace and harmony that has been prevalent in the country since the age of Gautam Buddha, who was born in Nepal. The crimson color is Nepal's national color, and it indicates the brave spirit of the Nepalese people. The two triangular shapes represent the mountainous terrain in Nepal, which includes Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth. The two royal symbols of the sun and the moon represents the hope that Nepal will last as long as the sun and the moon."
