You can buy many things in Nepal. You can buy foreign goods of different parts of the World (Branded or non-branded) to local products. I hope you are interested in local goods or typical to Nepal. The things that reflect Nepal which visitors prefer to buy in Nepal are:
Nepali Pasmina shawls, wooden and metal crafts (idols of God and Goddess, birds and animals etc), Nepali handmade papers, Himalayan books, paintings, posters, Thankas, Kukuri (Gurkha's Knives), hand made jewelery, fossil stones, Nepali musical instruments, hem fabric clothes, woolen goods like carpets etc.

Most popular foreign purchases are Nepali handmade papers, Thankas-Tibetan Paintings, Pashmina, Kukuri / Knives, jewelries, Nepali national dress, cap, and Nepali Carpets.

Ooh Lucky You. Well first off you can buy many things in Nepal. All the places listed are in Kathmandu -
If you're more into the ethnic side of things you should visit Thamer/Thamel. It is like a big market with lots of large stalls and shops. You can buy buddhas, nepal t-shirts, hand made bags, hand made bracelets, pashminas and lots of things that look like they have culture and a history to it.
If you want to shop for normal priced clothing with a vareity of shops and food shops go to the United World Trading Centre. They have english clothes and saris. They also sell mens clothes. If you want to wear something for everyday use go there.
If you've got more money hen go to New Road. This is like a hotspot for tourists and foreigners. There are really good food shops including Neerala's where you can eat amazing burgers and Baskin' Robbins where they have delicious ice cream. The shops at New Road are more up market and cost more.
If you need to shop for groceries there are wuite a few supermarkets. Such as Bhat Bhateni, Bluebird just to name two. You can buy clothes here as well. In one of these stores (forgot which one) they have designer clothing.

Thamel is one heck of a place wher you can buy funky shirts. There is a huge number of garment clothing shops where you can buy lots of cool and hippy kinda dress. We have Thankas which are paintaings of gods and godesses. You will also get this opportunity to buy lots of incience and of different types and smell.

We have singing bowls, Khukuris, hand made carpets, wooden goods and so on... Thamel will certainly be an exciting place to visit if you come over Nepal...And of course we have Patan and Bhaktapur where you will find lots of silver works ranging from bracelets to rings and so on.. I reccomend you to buy one of these which shows the typical art of the newar community of nepal

Seee ya
