The main environmental concerns in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal are:
1. Global warming: Due to it, ice melting and glacier outburst are threats to white snow mountains of the country.
2. Environmental pollution: The trash and other thrown up by visitors and trekkers, mountain climbers is piling up every day. Along with the increase in number of tourists, the waste is also increasing.
3. Food shortage: The area is not suitable for cultivation hence food has to be transported from lowlands. However due to lack of road network, the food scarcity is a problem. Due to food problem, people are over exploiting other natural resources which is in threat to whole mountain environment. |
