Edmund Hillary never made it to the top Tensig Norgay did. He wouldn't out Hillary for falling out.

First Ascent by a Woman: May 16,1975, Junko Tabei, JAP,

Corpses remaining on Everest:
about 120

Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay climbed Everest together, in addition to their team of supporters and Sherpa porters.

The last leg of the climb to the peak was done by Hilary and Norgay alone. It was actually Norgay that reached the peak first, followed by Hilary moments later.

the TRUE fact.

Tenzing Norgay was the FIRST person to set foot on the PEAK of everest, FOLLOWED by Sir. Ed Hillary.

The reason for Hillary to get credit was as it was his expecdition, but facts are facts and the person to reach the peak first was Tenzing.

Sir Edmund Percival Hillary and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first people to climb Everest on 29 May 1953

As above, New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary

Well I read somewhere that it was Hillary who really stepped to the top of the mountain before Tenzing. But it was nothing about being more smart or anything like that. From some point, only one person could proceed up at a time and Hillary went ahead followed by Tenzing. They both had decided not to disclose it to anyone and kept on saying that they both reached the top together until one of them disclosed it in a book in the 80s probably. Not really sure.

It was Sir Edmund Hillery, and Sherpa Tensing in 1953 (coincidently, it was the same day as the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II
