Absolutely. You can safely cover the 2 items, here I assume you have a normal food regime. The figure you mentioned is pretty much average.

Should be plenty, especially if you are going to flat or board etc....I.e for a student staying at a homestay, it costs the student only $200 per week includes room, power, breakfast, lunch, dinner...In a shared rental situation the room rent, will be variable depending on where you stay and how many others share the rent....
The average salary depends on what occupation you intend to work in. The higher qualified you are, the higher the salary...is how it basically works...

Room- depends if u want to live with Asian or Kiwi. Kiwi called 'flatmate', meaning u still have to share electricity etc besides the rent. Per wk would be $80~120 depends on the condition of the room/area. Living with Asian, normally don't have to share expenses, price $70~$100, but u r not that 'free' in the house as they only rent u the 'room'. Salary statistic (go to source), remember it's on weekly basis. 1580 = 364/wk less 90 room = 274. Should be enough. Food, from supermarket, bakery, or takeaway are cheaper. A lunch might cost : $4 (ham and bread from supermarket) to $7~$9 (McDonald / takeaway). Restaurants are more expensive.
