The balance of trade (or net exports, sometimes symbolized as NX) is the difference between the monetary value of exports and imports in an economy over a certain period of time. It is the relationship between a nation's imports and exports. A positive balance of trade is known as a trade surplus and consists of exporting more than is imported; a negative balance of trade is known as a trade deficit or, informally, a trade gap. The balance of trade is sometimes divided into a goods and a services balance. |

In regards to my view of the future of New Zealand's economy, I would say that, like all nations in this time of recession, that they too will feel the crunch, however, people will always want to eat lamb and use sheep products. So if the modern technology fails them, there's always agriculture to fall back on. The South Island has a world renowned tourism industry that won't fail them either! I visited NZ as a sailor in the US Navy during the LONGEX 72 excercises. Up until that time, I used to think that Austria was the prettiest country that I had visited, but my opinion quickly changed to New Zealand as we toured the country side in route to Rotura. ...Very beautiful country, even in the summer, everything was green! The people were extremely friendly and open. |
