And these people are running our country...? |
I think we're very lucky to live in such a country that is safe and have democracy but are our Ministers are at time very childish!
Mr Mallard and Mr Henare are a good example of this, their punch up yesterday was very childish. I'm 17 and I feel that I'm beyond this catty high school behavior. These are two fully grown men. So much for the anti-smacking law... If our Ministers can't even control their anger, what hope is their for the rest of the country to follow?
What do you all think? Are you disgusted by this?
(Sorry Kiwi, I thought it was about time for a serious question haha) Additional Details There's no excuse for violence. These people are ment to be running our country, they're being paid to do this. They aren't being paid to fight over petty things like this. This is nothing professional or responsible or manly about fighting. It's a sign of weakness. |

We accidentally watched the Parliament channel on Sky TV one night. Tuned in just as a Green MP was stumbling through the most boring speech I'd ever heard about nothing.
He nervously giggled and stammered his way through and then the camera panned around to reveal there was only about 12 MPs in the chamber. We were amazed!!!! Where were the other 100 odd MPs we pay to sit there and make decisions?
Rodney Hyde then stood up and replied to the Green MPs tripe. It was clever, concise and very amusing. I had never paid any attention to Rodney before but I was suddenly enthralled by the intellect of this strange little man. He actually cares about our nation and has some very normal and reasonable ideas - unlike some of the loonies in our Government.
I have not decided who I will vote for next time round, but Rodney is my new front runner for PM. Helen can go climb a mountain and John is OK but he still needs to prove himself.
If you have Sky and want to really see what a strange bunch we have looking after our country, check out the Parliament channel on Sky (I think its channel 96 or around there). |

You haven't mentioned the fact that Henare was using Parliamentary Privilege to taunt Mallard, in the House, about Mallards private life.
I am on his side as I have seen Henare taunt others in the past with his arrogance and hiding behind his "poor Maori" persona. He is a real nasty SOB, and Mallard should have punched his lights out.
The result would be the same, so he should have done the job properly.
You can't turn the other cheek every-time.
Grown men do fight, and their is nothing childish in having a scrap.
Well done Trevor. |

Unfortunately yes we do have these high paid people running our country. I totally understand where your coming from & find myself at times being quite annoyed with some of their behaviour.
I'm not sure if there is much hope for our future if we keep these people in these high paid jobs. |

Well cynical me says ... it's a screen to cover up something more important that's going on before the elections that they don't want us to know about!
It's like the Childcare thing - it implies that any person caring for children should have a degree in early childhood education. Wow! That's really going to cut any population growth! |

Your question is NOT specific to your country only - politicians all over the world, including ministers, are all scoundrels first and anything else later. This true for any democracy in the world. Their behaviour is NOT childish as you say but it is well calculated targeted to a particular group of people. |

Whatever your politicians are doing, at least they are not corrupt. I am from Bangladesh, our MPs topped Transparency International's Corruption Perceptioon Index for 5 straight years, NZ was among the least corrupt. |

Yeh, NZ is democratic... but it is not safe to live there as there is racism against Asian people and pacific islanders and there are so many bugglars and rubbish teenagers. The number of poor people is increasing year by year and the tax and inerest rates are so high and the government can't even control it.
NZ Goverment, paliarment members and all those ministers are so stupid. Anti-smacking law? Just make up your mind and get along with it already.
There is no dominant and charismatic figures in the politics and it appears that it will stay that way forever. |
