Hi there, here are a few suggestions off the top of my head as not sure your age or what you are interested in but hopefully this will be of help. Generally the weather will still be warm (going into autumn).
Auckland Museum
Maritime Museum
Auckland Zoo & Motat
Sky Tower in the casino complex
Kelly Tarltons underwater world
All the beaches are pretty nice, Mission Bay etc.
Devonport & Waiheke Island - catch a ferry
Viaduct Harbour
Here's a link that will help you too http://www.greatsights.co.nz/luxury-bus-tours/Auckland.php
Good luck and hope you have a great time.

Auckland is ok but since you are there for a week make sure you get out of the "city". I would motor up north a bit. Some great sights. http://travelrumble.com/destination.php?cityid=11

Expect to wish you'd gone somewhere else better like Christchurch.

travel north. keri keri is lovely. auckland city is lame, and everyone is really rude

hello
if you want to experience the real new zealand go to nelson ;)
it is more relaxed but still has nice shops, beaches etc but not so many people and cars and the area is smaller so you wont get lost ;)
still, auckland has lots to do. google new zealand auckland activites and it should come up with lots of results...
have a good holiday!

You'll be in easy walking distance for quite a bit. You'll be able to walk into the central city, for Sky Tower, Maritime Museum, the Art Gallery, Albert Park etc. Then take a bus to the Domain and the Auckland Museum There is a Maori Concert on at the museum three times daily. The glasshouses are worth a look too. Newmarket shopping and the Parnell Cathedral are a short bus trip or walk from the Museum.Look at both churches - one is old and historic built entirely of wood, the other modern with wonderful stained glass windows.Parnell is a nice old shopping area. Then catch a bus down town, where you can go up Sky Tower, go to the Maritime museum, catch a ferry to Devonport, etc. Kelly Tarlton's aquarium and South Pole display are along the waterfront. You can catch a bus.

You could catch a ferry to Rangitoto Island, and/ or Waiheke Island. Do a wine tour to either Waiheke of Matakana. Auckland zoo is really nice, if you like animals.

If you haven't been to Rotorua...you can do day trips to Rotorua or Waitomo/Rotorua.

Have a look at http://www.holidays-in-newzealand.com/auckland.html for all the things you will be able to do, and how to get around.

If I were you I'd get out of the city, there's a lot more touristy kind of things to do outside of auckland.
