Yes. It was called Out Of The Blue. My biology teacher was in the movie, the director went to my old high school. It's such a horrible movie, but you should see it. I've been to Aramoana so many times, but it was creepy going there after watching the movie. The guy was a complete nutter.

Good movie and I think it was unique in that it attempted to ‘humanise’ David Gray in a way that had not really been seen before in movies but without trying to provide an excuse as to why he caused such a lot of death and destruction to such a nice quiet little town.
I was just a kid at the time (about 11 years old) and remember the live TV footage from the second day of the siege.

the movie is good in the way it depicts the crime right down to every detail. the only one thing missing that would of made the movie ten times better is why the offender decided to shoot up a tiny town
