Auckland is a very safe and clean place to live. It has the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, the 2 largest malls in the Southern Hemisphere, (Westfield Albany and Sylvia Park, which also the largest cinema screens in the world) it has some of the best universities in the Southern Hemisphere and certainly in the Oceania region. Auckland currently ranks 5th in a survey of the quality of life of 218 major cities of the world (rank unchanged since 2006). In 2006, Auckland placed 23rd on the UBS list of the world's richest cities.
has more yachts per capita than any other city in the world, with around 135,000. It is also set to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup and thus the city is undergoing major renovation, a lot of the classic architecture is being restored and Eden Park is having a 700 million dollar upgrade, public transport is undergoing a massive overhaul and public transport being increased.
Much of Auckland is suburban, around 70% of the city lives in Low-density housing and its an extremely child-friendly environment.
North Shore City is perhaps the most notable of the suburban areas of Auckland, it is thought to have the best schools and much of it is located near the coast and is easily accessible from the city across the bridge. |

Auckland isn't as bad as others sometimes make it out to be. As mentioned above it has a lot to offer. The big downer is the traffic congestion, but with an increase in public transport this is slowly getting rectified, but peak hours are still a pain.
As for gansta thugs, lmao, and there isn't in Sydney?!?! There are heaps of nice suburbs to live in Auckland from central Auckland to further south, north, east or west. It just depends on the price you're willing to pay for accomodation, transport etc and the ages of your children may depend on what school you'd like them attend, especially if high schoolers.
The schools are in general pretty good, you can always read up on a schools Education Review by going to http://www.ero.govt.nz There are plenty of neighbourhood parks, swimming pools, the zoo, Kelly Tarlton's, beaches, Rainbow's End and a bunch of other things to do in and around Auckland. |

You'll love it here! It's similar to Sydney in many ways, but no icky spiders or snakes!! hehe
I think the North Shore is your best bet for a family, or maybe some of the inner city suburbs. The best suburbs in my opinion are takapuna, milford, devonport, herne bay, east coast bays
And there aren't gangsta thugs about really.. only in South Auckland.. it can be a little scary there! but i'm guessing they're not going to be in your circles so you'll be alright! And a few city kids who dress like gangstas but that's all. |

I would say stick with the North Shore for safeness. South and West see alot of gang violence. |

Auckland is sa great place. Sure, there are problems with traffic and public transport, but every city in the world has those problems. Don't beleive what those outside of Auckland tell you.
The best place to live would be on the North Shore. |

you'll love it here!
it's very similar to Sydney on lots of ways
the North Shore is a very nice place to live. It's safe, clean and friendly
however, if you're working in the city, you may have to put up with the traffick in the mornings, so take the bus (Park + Ride service is good)
