I have lived in both cities for at least over 5 years and i think that North Shore, Auckland is one of the most beautiful places i have ever been. And what the hell K bear doesn't know what hes talking about it snows in Dunedin and not in Auckland.

Auckland has a higher crime rate and its way too spaced out. Dunedin has wonderful nature in its surrounds and its a pleasant city.

I prefer Dunedin, there are parks everywhere and no matter where you live you're only 15 minutes max away from the centre of town

Dunedin is alot cheaper to live for students especially, and does get very cold during winter. Not as big as Auckland obviously, but you can always move there after your uni course...
