Best party towns in New Zealand?

Hi, im goin to New Zealand on a working holiday and just wanted to know what are the best towns to party in New Zealand? i kinda wanna stay away from big cities, but still have a good nightlife. Preferably somewhere with good weather and some natural beauty; nice beaches, mountains etc.

Also, which towns are more for backpackers? and which are good to meet kiwis?

I would recommend Nelson, its a city of approximatly 45,000 so not too big, has a few bars and nigthclubs and has the most sunshine in the whole of NZ. its 1 hours drive away from Abel Tasman national which has amazing golden sand beaches http://abeltasman.co.nz/
about 2 hours from Nelson is Picton where you can catch the ferry across the marlborough sounds and cook Strait to Wellington. Picton is also full of natural Beauty

Also Mount Manganui in the Bay of Plenty, North island might be good for you.

There are backpackers establishments all over NZ, people backpack everywhere even in the big cities Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

you should be able to meet kiwis (the people) in any town/city

Enjoy your time here

Oh yes and how could i forget Queenstown!! it has a great nightlife all year round, its a stunningly beautiful town, surrounded by mountains, its also been named the adventure capital of the world, definetly a place not to miss

Nelson Area, in summer(Tahunanui and Kaiteretere beaches) .

Queenstown, in winter

Dunedin, anywhere in between.(Student City).

tricky
Wanaka's a good party town in Winter with good mountains for snowsports. Raglan is good for learning to surf, you'll meet other kiwis and backpackers there.
