I love the West Coast of the South Island.......around Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers and also around Haast.....quite isolated but stunning scenery!!
As pointed out it depends on what you are looking for, peace and quiet, adventure, cities, etc etc etc...give us some more clues as to what you like and we can help better. |

Personally, my favourite areas are the not so common ones. The Southern coast (Catlins) of the South Island, Te Anau, Milford Sound etc are must sees to me.
But it really does depend what you're in to. The beauty of New Zealand is that there really is something here for everyone. |

Mate, there are so many excellent places to have a holiday in New Zealand it is too difficult to just pick one.
In actual fact, just living in this beaut god zone is one long vacation!! |

I agree that there are alot of great places to visit. It depends what you are interested in.
i personally love the abel tasman/nelson area for its climate and beauty in the south island.
In the North Island I like the hawkes bay for the sea, sun and good food and wine.The bay of islands at the top of the north island is also beautiful with lovely beaches. |
