Can "I've had enough" mean something else? |
Hi all. I'm working on a novel, and have a question: CAN you imagine someone who is weeping/sobbing say the following line without any anger/malice whatsoever?
(after being verbally punished a huge deal) "Just leave me alone... I've had enough."
I know it's too iffy to actually use the line like that (for those who CAN'T see that phrase being used without anger) but CAN anyone imagine those words being used purely as an expression of sadness?
Just wanna know if anyone's definitions of those phrases reaches into that realm...

personally, i think it would be more of an angrily said statement, like, 'I've had it with you, I'm out of here, I've had enough!'
that's a hard one! I was just thinking maybe you could use something like, 'I can't take any more,' but that's more of an angrily said statement too. i'll think on that, and get back to you.
A hint for getting people to answer: answer lots of questions, giving as good advice as you can of course, then at the bottom ask, 'Can anyone answer my question?' and put in the website address. |

You might want to rephrase it to something like "I cant take anymore of this *(situation)* please leave me alone" |
