Can someone please give me a rough idea of property prices in the different cities of New Zealand? |
Could someone please just give me a rough figure of a decent price on property in the following areas:
Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, Dunedin, Nelson..Or any other areas that are recommended!
..Im from the UK and will be going working in New Zealand to reside next year. I already have a friend working there for the past three years and we are thinking that depending on property prices (Im sure they have to bit a bit cheaper than here in the UK!) we may invest in some property between us. Would obviously depend on wether we could afford it or not though!..one point to note is that we will both be working in Auckland However we are aware that Auckland is probably the most expensive place to buy due to a lot of the population living there, so also wondered if there is any recommended decently priced areas for buy to let...so we could for example buy a house in the south Island and continue working in Auckland while we rent it out.
Any Info or advice what so ever would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks to all who reply in advance! |

I'm kinda confused but
Average house prices as of may 2008
Auckland on - $330k - 742k (varries by suburb)
Hamilton - $337,000
Wellington on average - 310k - 535k (varries by suburb)
Nelson - $321,000
Christchurch - 260k - 510k (varries by suburb)
Dunedin - $245,000
Queenstown - $540,000
Though.. if you can afford wellington or auckland ...
Auckland is the 5th best city in the WORLD for quality living.
& Wellington is 12th!
But i have a nice house in Wellington with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and great living areas out and in, and a nice suburb close to the city and what not. I think it's worth like 400k at the most - so my mum reckons. My aunty (also came from the UK!) bought a apartment in New Lynn, Auckland. Its close to the city, st lukes (shopping mall) supermarket etc.. It has 3 bedrooms,1 bathroom i think and it looks over the highway and suburbs, she spent in the 400k's!
Though the only thing i like about Auckland is how its big and a more range of things to do then Wellington. But i perfer Wellingtons people and houses.
Are you saying you have to work in Auckland? or are you able to work elsewhere. Sorry i can;t help with buy to let, got no knowledge of it!
You could browse properts on:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-property/index.htm
http://www.houses.co.nz/
or
http://www.realestate.co.nz/
And get an idea of the pricing of what you're looking for. but also theres some other links like that, on the site below
i got the average prices from http://www.emigratenz.org/new-zealand-real-estate-guide.html that you might wanna look at coz it has other good stuff. |
