If you go to http://www.holidays-in-newzealand.com/christchurch-travel.html you can see all the activities you can enjoy in and near Christchurch.
Christchurch is quite an English city - very pretty with lots of parks, beaches, and lovely old buildings. You are also near to a lot of interesting parts of New Zealand where there are outdoor activities.
It is a smallish city, so easy to get around. Flat with hills in the background. The school will depend on where you live in Christchurch. If it is a public school you will go from around 8.30 in the morning to 3.30 pm. There are many activities you can become involved in in the schools which is a good way to make friends.
Many children in New Zealand have after school jobs.Sport is big, and there a a lot of music opportunities.
Our food is a mix of many ethnic foods these days. Have a look at the food page on that website, which tells you about the food and has pictures.
For 15 - 17 year old students they have a lot of study at school as they have major exams in those years.
You will need warm clothes in winter. Christchurch had at last 2 falls of snow this winter. It is in the late 25 to early 30's degrees celsius in summer.
Good Luck

i spent 2 weeks in christchurch and nearly went mad...THERE IS NOTHING TO DO..THE TOWN IS REALLY REALLY SMALL... but it also depends where u come from..i live in from central london,it felt very claustrophobic ....no famous food in new zealand...unfortunately they eat a lot of rubbish... fruit and veggies are not very popular over there... fried, greasy food YES ,very popular !!!!
thank God kiwis are down to earth and friendly and smile all the time and made my stay in that town(coz it is a town even tho they like to call it a "city")more bearable...GOOD LUCK |

I live in NZ and have done a lot of travel abroad. You can't find a safer place then New Zealand! Our government rocks too.The traditional food of NZ would have to be a "Hangi" which is a meal that is smoked in foil in the ground. The best 2 Tourist places to go to would have to be Rotorua which is in the North Island or Queenstown which is in the South. Both Islands are VERY different.
Where are you from and how long will you be here? |

okay first of all its new zealand.
its boring, to be honest. i lived in nz for 12 years and apparently theres absolutely nothing to do in Christchurch.
depends on whether your going with a host family or your family.
a host family will have people to show you around and what to do and things. its impossible to prepare, because once you get there its completely different to what everyone says it is.
just relax, have fun, dont stress, its all good. |
