How long do you have? The amount of time available will obviously impact on what to see. If not much time, then the 'tourist triangle' will give you Auckland, Waitomo, Taupo and Rotovegas (Rotorua). If longer than one week, then head to the South Island and do the same thing; into Christchurch, down to Queenstown and surrounds, back across to Chch, then the West Coast if you have time. Completely different country down there.

Depends on where you're going, if Auckland defiantly go shopping for a day, or go surfing at Piha Beach or bring out your kiddy side and have an action packed day at Raibows end.
if your coming to Christchurch, go up the gondola, walk the Bridal Path, Ferry to Diamond Harbour.
All over NZ there are amazing tramps filled with scenery and wildlife.

I hope this helps :)

Definately go to all of the 'tourist' hotspots such as Mount Manganui, Rotarua, Taupo, Wellington, Christchurch or Queenstown, id reccoment you visit one of these places. My favourite is Mount Manganui because it is a wonderful beach, shops and there are wonderful outdoor hot pools that are at the bottom of the Mount, and it is lovely at night to look up at the Mount, awsome! Have fun

The coromandel has really beautiful beaches and I also reccommend Mount Mauganui. Auckland is great too if you perfer the big city.
