Could anyone comment on our chances of successfully moving to NZ? |
My girlfriend and I wanted to migrate to make new and fresh start. We will be married later this year. We are choosing to live between Singapore (where she works) and NZ.
1.) We know NZ is not Utopia. We know the hard facts of life. We don't expect actually perfect life anywhere, anyway.
2.) We are both proficient in English, (Im a law graduate and a teacher, and she is a teacher too, with Master's Degree).
3.) We are Asians, can blend and tolerate other cultures very much.
4.) we have no friends or relatives in NZ, (ours are in the US, hehehe).
5.) She works in Singapore, and practicing her profession for more than 5 years and I only worked for 1 year and entered law school.
6.) I think we are both healthy.
6.) We plan to move out in 2010, after we saved little for little more than a year...
I have visited NZ immigration sites and all others, and I just want to know our chances and reactions on the point of view of the natives and those who made the move. Thanks! |

Hi there - first of all don't let user Snow R email you - he just chants on how he hates NZ... he has 3 accounts and that is all he does on yahoo answers!!
----
As for NZ - beautiful country - lived there half my life. NZ is VERY multicultural, but the sad fact is anywhere in the world there is always racism. DO NOT let that put you off moving there, NZ is one of the safest countries in the world to live in....
Check out a few websites I've listed here for more info.

Kia Ora,
This is how we say hello in Maori
I think you will have a really good chance to come here
NZ is relatively easy compared to other 1st world countries like Australia,England,America etc.
You both have very high degrees and both speak probably better english than most people in NZ
You could apply for the Skilled Immigrants Shortage list and check if your proffesion in on the list.
Also of you have sufficient funds it makes your application even better
NZ is a very nice country,no snakes, scary spiders etc lol
Well best of luck and if you need any further info dont hesitate to ask:) |

Kia Ora buddy!
I think you will be fine - just keep the bit about US relatives a bit hush hush (nah just kidding).
We need all the teachers we can get, so don't hesitate. |

I think your charges are high. Specially with the fact that you both are teachers as we need more over here. Also that you can speak english. New Zealand really wants people that mirgate to nz to have some sort of qualifation. Also you might have to have a certain amout of money in you account but not to sure on this.
Have a look at this website. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
It tells you alot about what you need. |

I have friends from Malaysia who integrated well here - and were not qualified at all. I would expect you would have a very good chance because although we have a great number of Asians living here now, most are from China, Korea, Tawain and very few from Malaysia or Singapore. Who after all (except yourselves obviously) would want to live here compared to Singapore unless you want a cooler climate! |
