not guilty.
blood found on the rifle was said to be from the family. police did not dna test it. the defence team tested it and found it was rabbit or possum blood.
at the time the computer was turned on he was seen doing the paper run about three blocks away from his house.
his father was mentally unstable and asked for his whole family to be at the house over the couple of days. the father was living at a school in brighton and when he was returning home for the weekends he was sleeping in the caravan out the back of the house. the father was having sex with the older daughter at the time and it has been said that she had comfronted him about it and was about to tell the family.

a lot of the witnesses have since died and a most of the evidence has been destroyed.
the house had dozens of cops through it before any scene examinations were done. the hosus was burnt down about a week later so no more evidence could be found by the defence team.

it stinks of bad justice.
he was granted a retrial by the Privy council in the UK due to the fact that the police had made numerous errors in the investagtion and during the trial.
Free David Bain and pay full compansation for ruining his life.

Wow. ... this case is certainly a mystery.
I lived in NZ when these murders took place and was in shock, as the rest of NZ was.
Was even in more shock when he got released a few months ago after many appeals. (with help from that ex All black guy)

I can honestly say I am torn on weather he 'did it' or not .... I remember back then there was something on his computer - the time spent on it or something ...on the day, proved he was home..... also DNA wasn't up to the speed it is these days and there was a lot of floors in the whole investigation.
.... It will certainly be interesting what happens next.

I think he was a scapegoat for a badly bungled police investigation & because of the nature of the crime everyone wanted someone to be guilty & it just happened to fall on David. Reading the book about it was fascinating.. apparently the father was a bit crazy & was having some sort of incestral thing going with one of the daughters.
I think David is innocent.. just a victim of bad knitwear...
