Hey there.
It does all really depend on what you're interested in, your religion (if you have one), how much you're willing to pay for your education and if you want a co-ed or single sex school.
I'm 17 (in year 13) btw.
The schools close to town are- Otago Girls'. Otago Boys'. Logan Park. Kavanagh. St Hildas. Collumba.
Co Ed Schools in Dunedin- Bayfield. Kaikorai Valley, Kavanagh. Taieri College.
Single Sex (girls) Otago Girls'. Queens. Collumba. St Hildas.
Single Sex (boys) Otago Boys'. John Mcglashan. Kings.
Private Schools (religious). St Hildas. John McGlashan. Collumba. Kavanagh.
If you are into Drama then i'd suggest Otago Girls'/Boys' or Logan Park. Sports- Otago Girls'/Boys'.
(Logan Park has a bad reputation of drugs. Otago Boys' has a bad reputation of bullying. Otago Girl's had a reputation of being a bit 'slutty'. Queens has a reputation of high rates of teenage pregnancys. John Mcglashan guys are considered 'gay')
If you like the sound of any of these schools just google them. You can contact me if you like. I've been to Otago Girls' and I'm at Kaikorai Valley.

I'd say go with Logan Park High School--it's co-ed, and I think it's the closet one to the uni area. I went there, so I know it's good ;-).
Co-ed high schools are: Logan Park, Bayfield, Kavanagh,
Boy's only: John McGlashen, King's, Otago Boy's.
Girl's only: St. Hilda's, Queen's, Otago Girl's.
Truly, though, I don't think any of the above schools are bad. Do a bit of research, and pick. And it's quite common (it was at Logan Park, anyway,) for kids to take the bus to a school far away from their house...people don't necessarily stick with schools in their neighborhood (though it is more convenient).
Hope this helps! |
