Do Orange (UK) Mobile Phones Work in New Zealand?

Hi folks,

Pretty much as per the subject. Do Orange mobile phones work in New Zealand, even if it's just for text messages?
Additional Details
Just to clarify, this is a phone on the Orange network in the UK. I want to be able to use this phone in New Zealand on a month long holiday, primarily just for text messages.

I want to check if this phone network will function via roaming in NZ?

Yes they do as long as you have roaming enabled. My phone was on Orange when I first arrived.

If you are staying here more than a month I would however recommend that you get your phone unlocked while in the UK and then just purchase a pay as you go Vodafone sim pack(only choice of NZ network for sim card phones) it's cheaper that way.

Yes they can, NZ has a GSM network with Vodafone, there should be no problem roaming. If you use a local SIM card there may be a problem, check you phone details if a simlock is installed.

You need to talk to your company to see their prices for global roaming. It could be quite expensive. If your phone is CDMA, then chances are that no it wont work. If you're planning on staying in NZ for a while I suggest buying a Vodafone Sim Card for about $30 (NZD)
