Some schools will have streamed classes and if you meet the criteria to be in higher streams you'll be put in them.

High school in New Zealand tends to be at a higher level than the United States. If people at high schools in New Zealand are going to an American university it is very easy to get accepted after Year 12 which is the equivalent of a junior year at an American high school. It would be very rare for someone to bother with the equivalent of a senior year if going to university in the United States as it would be rather like repeating a level of study. Maths tends to be at a higher level, especially if you take the classes focusing on calculus rather than statistics. Several sciences are also taught at a higher level.

If you want an extra challenge you could try learning Maori or another Pacific language. Many schools will teach it and learning languages is a great way to challenge yourself. Try new sports such as cricket or rugby or take history, especially if your school has a class focused on New Zealand history.

NA - high school in NZ is pretty slack...We got this NCEA thing - not too effective - means pretty much any dummy can get into University...

As long as you pass the NCEA tests you'll be fine..Trust me they are no way near as hard as AP classes
