There are no snakes in NZ and there is only 1 venomous spider, which is shy and rare and only found in coastal areas.

Cindy
Not at all. I lived in New Zealand for a year and travelled around both islands in all kinds of terrain and never once saw a snake.

There are no snakes in New Zealand. Australia has lots of snakes but I wouldn't worry about them. They are shy and will get out of your way. Most people bitten by snakes in Australia are trying to kill the snake.

ELM
No not at all. No snakes here. Only one poisonous spider that keeps to itself and lives in the grass by the beach.

Very safe country. Having said that you can be eaten alive (so to speak) by the sandflies in the West Coast of the South Island so WEAR MOZZY REPELANT!
