Do schools in New Zealand have lockdowns?
I live in Australia and we had one today but it was only a drill luckily. When I went home to nz, for a holiday recently, my cousins recently told me that they never had lock down drills.
We have a whole procedure here in Aus. If the principal says on the loud speaker "This is your HEADMASTER speaking, you can go outside" we don't becasue we know he is being held hostage and it's dangerous to go out. If he says "Principal speaking" then we know it was only a drill.
Should NZ have these drills? It's a bit worrying to think when some nutter over there goes into a school and no one would know what to do!
I am aware of what they are but I have never heard of one going on in a New Zealand school. We don't need them, why take the principal hostage when the bank teller or indian at the 4 square has money and smokes, I believe the lockdowns are for the US & Finnish
Lets remember its not America!

Last year my old high school implemented
a lock down procedure, & we had a couple
of drills..
this was in west auckland..
some scho0ls would have a lock down,
some not..
I would say they would start them in the Auckland
region, seeing as its the most populated area..

Nope. I had a lockdown drill when I went to school in Sydney, but never at my schools in New Zealand.
Nah I don't think we really need them, but one day we will.
