On the basis of my all too short visit to New Zealand, no.
As an Englishman I found there to be virtually no culture clash at all. While New Zealand has it's own socio-political issues to deal with, I perceived it as almost an idyllic version of how many of us would like England to be or think it used to be in times gone by. |

Watch out for our car hoons, big city gangs like the Mongrel Mob, coked-up hoodlums on a night out, houses without heatpumps (trust me, you need them to get the moisture out), closets without closet heaters (otherwise, your clothes get mouldy), and, even though "everyone gets a bargain" there, realize that anything you buy at The Warehouse has an expiry date of about 7 days after purchase.
Hope it was negative enough for you.

teetotalism?? what?? I'm pretty certain that NZ has a few issues with binge drinking...or is that just me???
Sorry that one just got my goat.
Yes I would say isolation....but living here you don't feel it as such...its more liked peoples perspecitve of being isolated.
Things like not getting things ( gagets and what nots) as we are isolated or take longer to get here or cost more.
Lower income would be one thing thats getting me at the moment and its nearly worth it to hear the aussie accent to go there and earn more!!!
I would say there are negatives to having a small population too..espeically after having lived in the UK for a while... things like lack of (public) transport...hence the obsession with cars and "owning the roads" and road hogs and poor car etiquette!
Lack of facilities in small areas and having to travel for ages to get to a decent sized centre to get things like ....clothes!
I love NZ tho....and I love it more after coming back! |

ummmm i think being a former resident of NZ, the only real negative things there are the lower income as opposed to the US, being a smaler more isolated country than most of the world, it doesnt have the strongest economy, other than that, its the best country in the world |

Only negative things I can think of are:
It takes so long to get there from just about anywhere and the weather isn't exactly predictable. |

New Zealand is a very small country and the amount of child deaths due to family cruelty is increasing. The culprits are dealt with too lightly, the punishment needs to be harsher. |

I'm a naturalised Kiwi, originally from Britain. The things I like least about us are our obsession with sport, our gang problem, high level of violence, especially against kids, a tendency to teetotalism and New Right politics. But compared with most places NZ has very few serious problems. |
