A tip - don't go to a university town (eg. Dunedin). The students go home during summer, and businesses dies off, so there is not much work around. Also, the students that are still there fill up a lot of the jobs during there holidays.

Summer holiday destinations, eg Queestown / Wanaka / Nelson / Tauranga, etc might be a better choice.

Fruit picking jobs are always around in Central Otago, etc. But the pay is
not high.

Get in early to secure a job if you can!

Who's summer will you be going in?? The summer in NZ is winding down so there won't be so many fruit picking jobs around.

If you're going in the Nrthn Hemisphere summer then it'll be winter in NZ. So seasonal work would be more likely available around the ski fields. I'd go to Queenstown/Otago area as the ski industry there is big (for NZ).

You'll need a working visa - contact your local NZ consulate/embassy for this. Or go to http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/workingholiday/ for good info.

if you are still in school, get a visa from statravel.com and go searching. its their winter, but its still easy to get part time work. be prepared for cold and rainy weather.
