Is sponsership available?
Yes - Nurses are highly sort out, Australia (and NZ) both have shortages of Nurses.

Can you still get relocation packages from prospective employers? Yes again

Cost of living?
Since you are from the UK - see this site (it was made by a family that moved to Aussie from the UK to compare country's costs. http://www.aussiemove.com/aus/costlive.asp

Credit checks - I have credit cards/overdrafts, does this affect application? I am not sure on that.

How much to apply for visas with medicals?
Would have to check the Immigration for Australia website - http://www.immi.gov.au

How long does the process take?
Anywhere between 2 months and years... but being a nurse or having a skill that is on the Australian skilled shortage list, they can fast track application.

Your next step would be going to the EXPO coming up in the UK in October. Immigration is there to answer all your questions, help with forms and job offers are actually made there also.

I'm sure English will have no problem emigrating in most countries in the world. They will definitely welcome you there.

Your employers will be able to help you to gather all the information regarding to what you need to apply. I think nurse is in the category.

They used to charge $500 NZ which is about £170 - £190 in 2004 but they might have already increased the fee. Please find out at NZ Immigration.govt.nz.

Sorry I wish I could help more but I've already left NZ and returned to the UK.

All the best. Good luck.

Write to the embassy of New Zea land or Australia to ask.
Are you already a British citizen, as I think this would probably help.

great_warrior2007
You need to speak to someone who specialises in this ort of field its very unlikely you will get your answer from YHA.

I would suggest visiting http://britishexpats.com/forum for some further help. They will be able to help, particularly regarding the fact you are a single parent. For instance, the legality of taking a child overseas and the procedures you may have to follow.

To be honest, I can't imagine there being a problem with the fact that you have a daughter if they are going to pay for relocation packages - just be aware that they may not have packages in place. But the fact you have a child should not influence the application. You may have to take into account childcare, but you would know that :)

Like i said, go to the British Expats page. That is a good first step.
