Ever travelled over the Raurimu Spiral in New Zealand ? |
This remarkable piece of Engineering, is a veritable wonder. In a straight line; 1 mile. But on the Spiral, this is about 7 miles, or so. Have any of you had the opportunity of travelling over this route in the Central North Island ?? |

The train is still running. It was going to be withdrawn but there was so much protest that it was saved. I've travelled over it a couple of times, but don't remember much about it. |

Been over it probably about 10 or 15 times, taking the train between auckland and wellington (don't think the train runs anymore), the train staff have a commentary running explaining how it works when you go over it. |
