Proposition 92A, banning illegal music and video downloads in new zealand. and if you download illegally, your internet gets cut off. it was going to come in to place today but i only just heard about it.

Actually, it has passed. What has happened though is that its implementation has been postponed so that those involved can try to reach agreement about what should happen.
It's section 92A of the Copyright Act 1994, and it's designed to protect people's copyright - but the controversy is over the "punishment without trial" aspect - the fact that you can have your internet account cut off on the basis of an accusation only. |
