Hei Hei is a suburb of Christchurch. Important things for retirement are distances to supermarkets, doctors etc and also public transport, if the time comes when you can't drive yourself. They're good options for resale value as well.
Obviously getting a property in a good school zone isn't important, but it can affect price for resale too as well as what you pay.
