Hi! I think it is just what kind of lifestyle you want over here. If you want to live in a big city, then Auckland. Don't mind the cold, then go down south. How about Blenheim or Nelson? Warmest climate in NZ and very friendly place. Lots of work in vineyards etc. Just think about what you and your famiy want in a town and city and then find places that suit :) |

Kiaora, bro! Yeah mate, well give you gentle ribbing, but no worse than the stuff we get over the ditch. We like aussies pretty much. Dunedin might be a bit cold for you, unless you are from Vic or Tas. Cost of living in Dunedin is similar, house prices are getting up there but not Melbourne ridiculous yet. Find a guy called Tahini Raving Wierdo here on Y!A?, he has immigrated there from further abroad, he can offer more regional advice. I would take a month and head north and south, find somewhere you like. I personally love the Hibiscus coast, north of Auckland, great demographic, great geographic. |

You should move to Rotorua, Yes.. it smells like sulfer.. but it is an amazing place mate. You will fit right in with us Kiwis.... we like to give aussies a little bit of ribbing every once in a while. Kiwis are really alot like Aussies, laid back and fun loving. Hope you find what you want mate. |

hi douglas - i hope u move and i hope u like it!!! prob gonna be a bit cold for ya the weather has been so crap lately. the cost of livin is good and while we kiwis and aussies always give each other a ribbing u know its all in good fun - as long as the poms rnt winning the cricket lol. everywhere is good depends wot u after but maybe up north would be best for the weather!!!! unless u like snow then come south and have a great time. all the best with ur new life! |

Hi, I think your family will settle into NZ life fairly easily.
Most of us take a person on their personalities rather than their country of origin. And of course, kiwis and aussies have very similar attitudes... so I wouldnt be too anxious.
As for "where to live" that is coloured by several things... You have to ask yourself what your requirements are... For instance, what type of work would you look for - Office work? Then Auckland or Wellington would be your best bet... A cleaner life? Rural areas are prolly more suited. Warmer climate preferred? Top half of the North Island..
Want all of the above, try the Waikato, or the areas just south of Auckland - like Pukekohe, Ramarama, Te Kauwhata (anywhere within easy commute to Auckland City). etc etc..
If it were me, I would make a list of my preferences and then spend some time travelling about, looking for the right place..
Hope that helps some. |
