Hi
Mt Eden is definately a much cooler area than Mt Roskill (Mt Roskill is a super religious area with tons of churches and church obsessed pacific islanders so don't live there!). Mt Eden is much more central, very close to the city. Kingsland is also central and very cool. I'm not entirely sure where New Windsor is.
I think Mt Albert is near AUT? It's an ok place to live, they have very old colonial houses with larger rooms and polished wooden floors and high ceilings, cool houses. St Lukes is good too.
Don't worry there are loads of people looking for flatmates, try trademe.co.nz flatting section.
For transport, email AUT or look at their website, they should know all about transport to there.

I wouldn't advise that area to be honest, but of course that depends on what you're used to. It is highly multicultural with a lot of muslims and somalians and hardly any white people. It has a lot of crime too.
Mt Eden is an awesome suburb, safe, central and sohphisticated full of nice people. I would advise that by far. Walking distance to city. |
