Requesting Rita

How does living in New Zealand compare to living in Australia?

In particular North Island of NZ with Sydney - please tell me about the pace, the traffic, the entertainment, the work. Your insight will be greatly appreciated.

Auckland is most like Sydney, but I prefer Auckland having lived in both places. The people are more laid back and seem to just go with the flow. However, there is still a great night scene if thats what you after. There's truly something for everyone! The great thing about NZ is that everything is so close. If you want to go to the capital its only a 45 min flight or a 6 hour car drive. You can also go down to the south island very easily. In Aussie, its a bit harder because its so much bigger.

I've never lived in Australia, but in Auckland, New Zealand, the traffic is horrendous at rush hour but there are some good motorways and roads being built at the moment. There is always some good entertainment going on somewhere in Auckland, and it's quite easy to get work here. The unemployment rate is dropping lower and lower each year.

Well no town or city in New Zealand can compare to Sydney cause Sydney is far more populated and large. It is about 3 or 4 times bigger than Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The equivalent Australian city in size would be Brisbane or Perth.
Auckland has plenty of work opportunities depending on what you do, and in most cases there is a severe labour shortage. If you're skilled, you can live a reasonable life in Auckland. Cost of living is also a lot cheaper there than most Australian cities.
The climate in the North, while warmer than the South island, is much more milder than most of Australia. With regards to entertainment, I would actually put Auckland on par with Sydney mostly because when international acts come down here the 3 cities they almost always visit are Sydney, Melbourne & Auckland (as the main city of NZ). Hopes this helps a little.

I live in Melbourne, but have found Sydney to be fast paced, a lot of traffic, with bad roads, entertainment OK, not sure on the work front.
I've noticed there are a lot of gays too. (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I have lived in both and now live in Australia but I always go back to New Zealand.

New Zealand is more laid-back. The people are generally friendlier in new zealand, although there are lots of nice people here too.

Auckland has pretty bad traffic although nothing compared to Sydney or Melbourne. Auckland would have heaps of work opportunities. If your looking for night life in NZ, then Wellington is the place!

The north island is warmer than the south island but it can get a little chilly in winter.

Thanks for the question =)

Auckland in NZ is the most like Sydney - Sydney is a lot bigger though, about 4 times the size, and a LOT more beautiful. Other than that though I would say they are fairly similar. The weather in Auckland is ok - not as good as Sydney but warm enough.
