Kia Ora Greetings from New Zealand.

If your hotel is in Auckland City then buses will get you around fine. There are also lots of tours and they cost around $150 NZD per day per person.

You can also do boat trips from downtown Auckland and that can cost from as little as $9 return per adult for a cruise across the harbour to the suburb of Devonport.

I would highly recommend a trip over to Waiheke Island for the day. It costs $28.50 return for an adult and its only a short 30 minute boat ride away. Once on Waiheke Island you can do small tours which include arts & crafts, wineries, etc.

I would allow about $30-$40 per person per day for food. You can eat any where from burger places like McD's to cafes and restaurants.

Don't forget to go up the Sky Tower. If you can afford to dine at the Orbit Restaurant, even better.

There is lots to do and lots to spend your money on, but its a great place whatever your budget. Have a great time.

well. buses and trains are fairly cheap. you can get these all day passes on buses for about 7 bucks or something but just calculate your costs first and dont forget that most bus drivers are rude and ignorant. there are lots of cheap restuarants where you can eat for about 50 bucks for two people but if you order loads of booze or go somewhere real posh it will obviously be more. touristy things tend to rip you off a little. so expect to pay bigger for those. but stuff like going up volcanos or ferry rides are pretty cheap.

Whatever money you take will nearly double depending on the exchange rate, if you are from the US. For example, a hamburger here for $2 would be $3 there. I took $2000 US when I went for 7 days with my partner. That paid for hotels, nice suites in 4 star places, food, rental car, entertainment, souviners, theme parks etc. We came back with money too.

About $1000-$1500NZD (£500-£600) would give you a fantastic time.Alcohol is expensive but everything else is reasonably good value.Hiring a car for a couple of days would give you some great travel options e.g coromandel peninsula.Otherwise buses and boats are the best travel options in and around the city itself.Enjoy!

Auckland is a very big city so i dont advise taxis. Busses are cheap but then you will have to run on a schedule. I would say depending on how many you are taking, and how much shopping you want to do then maybe $1000 will get you an enjoyable week but if you are taking kids then maybe $2000. It really depends how much extra spending you are planning on doing. If you have any other questions on Auckland then i dont mind answering them for you emesumau@yahoo.co.nz
