Hi,
I reommend you live in a apartment clost to Uni, in this way you can walk to uni and save travel costs.
1. Room rent - 120 to above pwk
2. Monthly food - how much do you eat? Do you cook or fast food junkie? based on that, 100 to 300 per month

Rem the conversion rate, 1 NZD = 0.5 USD

JD
Room rent depends on where you want to live. Check out TradeMe for room rentals - I see an apartment in the central city for about $150/wk, but that'll be pretty small.

Food, again depends. Check out foodtown/woolworths online shopping to see how much your typical food shop is going to cost.

As for fares, once you have a place you think looks reasonable, you can try Maxx to see how to get to the university from there and how much it'll cost. There are discounts for students, figure 10% and you should be right. From the outer suburbs you can get "there and back" for $10 if you set out after morning rush hour.

With Maxx, just make sure you get the times right - if you screw up am/pm it might tell you the quickest way is to walk :)

I'd pick somewhere between $250 and $300/wk depending on how/where you live.

Chloe
You gave a good answer, JD, but I'd recommend Pac n Save or Countdown. Food shopping there is WAYYYY cheaper than in Foodtown or Woolworths.

Of course, that's if you end up going to New Zealand. Other than that, yeah, check it out online. :)
