Age 56 is unfortunately past the age threshold NZIS normally allows (which is 55, and you can only claim points till you are 43), but if you hold a profession which is very badly needed (to be viewed on the skills shortage lists, http://www.immigration.gov.nz ), chances are it might just work. A 57-year old nurse from the UK has just been granted residence here, because nurses are so badly needed.
To be quite frank, I am afraid it may not work out for you. I thought it would be fair to say, because many agencies may try it on your behalf, charge you, and still get you turned down. I am, of course, flattered that you love my country so much, and believe me, if I had a say in this, that would be a factor. But the law is a lot more strict than that.
Now, I do have a few alternatives to offer you though: If you are looking for a country that is as lovely as New Zealand, and if you find that there is no way of coming here for you, try one of the following:
Chile
Uruguay
Portugal
Greece
Those are also amazing places, and without the restrictions on age. Please feel free to contact me for further advice if you wish. |
