Well it's called 'Windy Wellington' for a reason
Not my cup of tea that place, go across the creek to Picton, Nelson etc - much nicer, and always sunny,

If you are talking about now - it is the middle of winter there so you wouldn't expect it to be tropical sunshine.
Last summer in NZ started a bit late - it was miserable in the Auckland area till the second week in January.
In fact, South Island was better than North Island in spite of being so much further South.

not in the summertime

It's not usually very bad but colder than Auckland and warmer than some places on the South Island. It can be extremely windy in Wellington though so better be prepared!

No better, no worse than most other places in the country.
EXCEPT: Because of the geophysical relationship of the South Island to the North Island, and given the lattitude, the prevailing wind is from the northwest. It blows everyday that a southerly (a cold wind) is not blowing. It blows at different strengths according to the current weather pattern over central NZ. Strengths of up to 170 km per hour have been recorded.
In other cities, people own umbrellas, but not in Wellington.
That's why it's known as the Windy City, or Windy Wellington.

Hi,sorry I cant answer your question as NZ is thousands of kl from Australia and are two different country's.
Perhaps if you purchase your paper there most likely have weather conditioned world wide.
Hope this helps Waltz.
