New Zealand has a very mild climate, that is not too hot and not too cold (although its just been snowing in parts of the South island and we do get temperatures above 30 degrees celsius in summer)

I agree that you should possibly look at Nelson at the top of the south island, its probably my favourite area of NZ (well certainly my favourite summer area) it gets the most sunshine in the whole of NZ and is big enough to have everything you could possibly need (several grocery stores, department stores etc) but not too big (so traffic congestion not too bad)

and yes the picture in your link is of a beach around the milford sound area. Milford sound is an amazing place well worth a visit, its closest to the township of Te Anau in the South of the South island. VERY cold down in that region during winter though, but very beautiful (I lived in Te Anau as a child). Its a very touristy place, so quite expensive and the permanent population is quite small so not the best place to live if small isn't your cup of tea.
the NZ immigration website is also worth a visit as it will give you info on visas and a bit more of an idea of what living in NZ is all about.

The beach in the photo is the Milford Sounds - gets very cold there in the winter. (bottom of South Island)

Why not look at Nelson - top of the South Island, they have the most sunshine hours per year, great beaches and plenty to do and see around the region.
Nelson city is the 10th most populous city and geographical centre of New Zealand. Nelson and Tasman Region has a resident population of 92,300 (2006 census)

Hi,I think befor you think about the weather you need to think about if you are able to stay in this country in the first place.Sadly its not so simple just coming over and buying a house n thinking ill get a job n live here.I am originaly from the Uk and have just again gone through my visa application.Have a look on immagration.govt.nz to see if your job is on the shortage list or if you are able to get a visa.U do get more points if you have a job offer in Dunedin which i where i first started out.i have since moved to Auck which made my visa app much harder.The south island is cheaper to buy i believe but not realy relavant if your not allowed to be here in the first place.Godd luck though :)

If i didn't live here i defiantly would wanna go on a holiday here =P
but before you move anywhere overseas i recommend you go on a working visa or something so you can actually see what its like insted of moving all the way there to see that its not the "picture perfect dream place"

Nelson is a really nice town but is one of the most expensive places to buy a house. Luckily the housing market has dropped! The Kapiti Coast is great its 45 minutes from Wellington and it takes 5 to 15 minutes to get to the beach depending on where you live it also has a great veiw of Kapiti Island!
Christchurch is one of the most beautiful cities and great for a family but there arent many jobs.

The South Island has plenty of beautiful scenery. Again look at the real estate section of Trade Me. It is the biggest real estate site for New Zealand on the internet.

That beach is right at the bottom of the South Island - too cold for swimming any time of year I would think! Being by water is an easy request in New Zealand. We have so much coast line, and many lakes and rivers.

Come live and settle in the "best" part of New Zealand
The Bay of Plenty - for starters just look at the name!!!!!!!!!
Beaches - Beaches and oh did i mention Beaches!
Tauranga great to go shopping and also to the Mount!
Whakatane always in top 3 sunshine hours in NZ.
Rotorua is NZ premier tourist destination.
Awesome climate year round.
Plenty of opportunities employment wise.
Come on over we're all waiting for ya!

Like the furry little koala bear said that photo is of the Milford Sounds. However, I wouldn't recommend living there unless you're a 3rd or 4th generation Southerner, or an experienced outdoors person. While travelling there you'll have to watch out for landslides, rockfalls, ice and snow on the narrow road. You'll also need to take a couple of cases of insect replant with you to fight off the millions of sandflies that inhabit the area. And if you're really lucky, you might even get to see a Canadian Moose, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one to show up.

My advice would be for you to head towards Christchurch or Dunedin as jobs would be fairly easy to find and they both have their fair share of wonderful beaches for you to enjoy.
