We need more Americans especially skilled ones ( and nba players)...winks
( ignore that redneck below, yep ya know the type)....a lil insecure no doubt......
I gotta say while I agree its very beautiful ,spacious and vibrant it is also probably going to be more expensive than you are used too........living costs ,gas , ( we still send a part of our hard earned taxes to the queen grrr)......food once youre familiar with the best supermarkets should be fine.......takeaways ( takeouts )...expensive....but then kiwis dont buy them maybe as much.....

the good news is our dollar against the greenback is very high so once you convert from u.s dollars to kiwi...you will be smiling.......$100 Greenback=$151.00 Kiwi...approximately....

It depends what you want, if you like the outdoors & sports it's great & if you're into adventure stuff like white water rafting, hang gliding, bungy jumping, etc. If you want New York type excitement you won't find it here as there's no big city vibe even in Auckland. But in saying that I think the nightlife in Auckland & Wellington is as good as any in the large Australian cities. If you like noisy loud people, go to Australia instead (Sydney or Queensland anyway), we're more quiet & laid back here. The variety in landscape here is awesome, beaches, volcanoes, geysers, snow & sun (depending on which part of NZ you're in or course), forests, lakes, alps. You need to travel around different countries to decide where to live, that's the only way & sometimes it's good to just live somewhere for a few years only (you might choose to go elsewhere or even back home). Oh yeah & it's a pretty creative place too, re artists, comedians, film making, etc & the theatre scene is big in Wellington. Re the guy above, you might not find Auckland a "rat race" at all if you're from a big city in the USA (in fact you will find that comment hilarious if you're from New York or LA). As for Hamilton, well, frankly us Aucklanders see it as a hick town where nothing happens! He'll be furious at me saying that but it's true, everyone laughs about Hamilton.

I think that the person above me is a little against Americans, to say the least. I do have to agree that SOME Americans do use waste our planets resources, but they shouldn't discriminate against all Americans. And to answer your question it is very beautiful and calm for a lesser word.

10 out of 10

NZ is a fantastic place to live. The scenary is very diverse, and in the South Island you can get what i call proper seasons. You actually know which is spring, summer, autumn and winter. You can drive for say five hours and the landscape will always be changing, you won't have to suffer through five hours of flat farm land for instance. There is so much to do, so many extreme and non extreme activities. Beautiful beaches and bush and mountains. Most people are really friendly and helpful. There are no wars or terrioism.

New Zealand is great. I lived there for a while and I loved it! There's so much variety, so no matter what you like to do, or what climate, there's something for all tastes! Plus a lot of Kiwis seem to find US accents pretty cool and they're all really friendly!
Everything is a bit cheaper too, like food etc, so as long as you have an ok job living costs are pretty good.

yes its a cool place to live just dont move to auckland unless you like to live in a rat race and it dosent represent what the rest of our country is like, aucland has high rent.......hamilton is a great place to live or the south island but go wea ever the money is........new zealand is a really laid back place

I swear to god, NO MORE AMERICANS IN NEW ZEALAND.
Don't you get it? We don't like you. We aren't even allied to you. You hold us one step away from a hostile country. Why don't you just go burn another 40% of the worlds resources?
