Auckland is great, 4th best city in the world for lifestyle. Beaches, parks, (dormant) volcanoes... If you're a guy you're in luck because there in a man drought at the moment so lots of girls vying for your attention. The weather is variable but mostly good, a bit cold during winter but just an excuse to layer up and gather round warm fires. Nightlife is also variable, lots of dance parties and the occasional international rock band glam it up. |

I like christchurch better, i went to auckland last year and it was very humid you know. The roads were steep as well unlike Christchurch! |

Auckland is a great city, but it depends on what you want from a place as to whether I would recommend living there. It's not as easy to get around as some other cities - like Wellington, but has a fairly moderate climate (quite humid) and has amazing beaches and coastlines nearby if you have a car. There's not a lot in the central city in terms of nightlife and often you'll find each suburb has it's own local pub/bars etc. Is probably one of the more expensive cities to live in, in New Zealand so wouldn't be ideal if you were studying, and it would be very frustrating if you didn't have your own vehicle.
As far as girls, New Zealand women are awesome! (no prejudice here). For culture, ease of lifestyle and jobs i would recommend Wellington (where I'm from), it's only real downside is that it can have terrible weather but it is a beautiful city, with lots of life and things happening, so keep it in mind!
On the job front, there definitely is work in Auckland (and Wellington), again depends on what sort of work you were after. Auckland is often likened a bit more to being like Sydney, Australia and Wellington is similar to Melbourne .. if that helps at all. |

I prefer Wellington better. Its like a mini Melbourne with good restaurants, bars and culture etc. It is however known as the Windy City |

i live in wellington but ive been to aucklnad twice and its a really cool city
it has quite bad traffic congestion, and roads and stuff though
it has great shopping on high street, queen street and k road.
the weather is normally really nice, like is alwyas pretty warm, wellington is way windier
there are lots of cool tourist activities you can do when you first get there, eg going up the skytower, kelly tarltons etc. |
