If you are visiting Melbourne Sydney or Brisbane, the climate is relatively warm year round. From November to February it can be hot, daytime maximums can reach 40 centigrade, but usually are 25 to 35 centigrade with medium to high humidity. Winters in these places are cooler with daytime maximums around 18 to 22 centigrade. Brisbane is the warmest.

In the more northerly regions the main rainfall is between late October and February. However rainfall in Australia overall is very irregular and unpredictable. The coast of Queensland between say Rockhampton and Cape York is subject to cyclones, called hurricanes in the northern hemisphere. None to two every year.

In Canberra the summer maximums are similar but the humidity is much lower. Rainfall - what's that? Winter - late May to early September the winter minimums overnight can be minus 5 centigrade with maximums of 10 or even plus 1 on particularly cold days. Once every two years or so Canberra has a little snow.

Perth and Adelaide have a climate which is roughly similar to that of Los Angeles.

I would recommend that you start in southern Australia in say March and travel generally north until May. Alternately start in northern Australia in September and travel generally south until November.

All I know is that their winter happens during our summer, so you might want to go in the winter (here). Not that it gets really cold (depending on where you are) in Australia anyway, but a great break from winter here has to be summer there!!

Have fun!

now is the best time to go. our winter is their summer. they have BBQ's on the beaches during Christmas. Christmas everyone wears bikinis and surfs and eats pastys. LOL just kidding on the pastys but yeah, summer is in December and it gets HOT!!

now is a good time because it is summer there but if that is too soon then plan it around this time. Any day of the year is great in Australia, just go and have fun. You will be pleasantly surprise as it is one of the nicest country to go to. ENJOY nad G'DAY

Burn
D'ont go in the winter en less you are sure there is a pool. I lived there a year and on Christmas it was like 42 degrees Celsius or something. Cause winter is their summer and summer is there winter. But holiday break a.k.a summer break is in the summer so even though it is hotter there will be funner stuff to do. During their winter the beach sucks but it is great in summer and there will be alot more people. During their winter it is like 20 degrees so mabe you should choose some time to go in the middle. Up to you have fun it is great!!
